New publication from the group on plastics upcycling!

by on August 3, 2023 11:30 pm
Makenna’s hard work in converting plastics into alkylaromatics that can be used as sustainable lubricants has just been accepted for publication in ACS Sustain. Chem. Eng. journal! She worked hard to show that silica-alumina can be used rather than Pt to upcycle plastics. Great collaboration with colleagues at SLAC!

Andrew publishes his work on using sulfur-treated titania for alcohol dehydration in Nanoscale!

by on February 28, 2022 5:44 am
Andrew published his latest work in the group demonstrating how a specific treatment to add sulfur to titania converts this oxide into an active and selective catalyst for alcohol dehydration! See his paper in Nanoscale

New JACS paper by Nadia and Angel that prepared Pt/Cu bimetallic particles that are more active than Pt in propene combustion!

by on January 8, 2022 12:38 am
Nadia and Angel worked together to demonstrate, in our latest JACS paper, that Pt/Cu bimetallic nanocrystal catalysts are more active than pure Pt for the complete combustion of propene! Congratulations to the team and collaborators from BASF, SLAC and Stanford!

Chengshuang demonstrates the use of porous polymer layers to improve CO2 hydrogenation activity of Ru in PNAS!

by on January 8, 2022 12:36 am
Chengshuang developed a method to coat Ru/TiO2 catalysts with porous polymer layers and modify their reactivity, showing much improved C-C coupling during CO2 hydrogenation. Congratulations to the whole team and collaborators!

Dohyung shows how electrocatalysts can selectively oxidize biomass-derived polyols into useful chemicals in PNAS!

by on October 7, 2021 5:42 pm
Dohyung worked on the selective electro-oxidation of biomass-derived sorbitol and other polyols showing how a voltage cycling process results in Pt resulting in the formation of ketoses with unprecedented selectivity!

New paper in Science shows highly active sites from grain boundaries in palladium!

by on October 7, 2021 5:39 pm
Our recent work led by Weixin in collaboration with groups in Materials Science, at NIST and U. Wisconsin-Madison demonstrates highly active sites in palladium catalysts created by steam treatment that results in grain boundaries. Fantastic discovery and collaboration published in Science!
